Snow Angels, Secrets and Christmas Cake by Sue Watson

What They Say:

For Tamsin Angel, Christmas is always the biggest and best… chic parties and a little showbiz sparkle are a must. This year though, things aren’t going quite as planned…

With bailiffs suddenly at the door and her husband nowhere to be found, it looks like Christmas just got downsized. Moving into her sister’s one-bedroom flat, she wonders whether things will ever be the same again.

After losing her husband on Christmas Eve, Sam Angel has rebuilt her life around her son Jacob and her new business – The White Angel Bakery. She’s also found herself a very handsome, loving boyfriend, but is struggling to let go of the past.

Thrown together with a sprinkle of Christmas magic, Sam and Tamsin might just learn a little more about each other – and themselves. But when disaster strikes at the bakery, will they be able to save the day in time for Christmas?

What I Say:

I would like to thank Bookouture and Kim Nash for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

As with Sue's other covers this is really perfect and with the red and gold it makes it really festive.

When we first meet Tamsin she is trying to organise a winter wonderland in her living room, she is the typical kept wife, even down to trying to wrestle her dog into a polar bear outfit.

Tamsins world comes crashing down around her ears when the bayliffs turn up and her husband disappears.  She has always been the strong sister, keeping things from her past to herself, protecting and looking after her younger sister Sam, but now it's Sam's turn to look after her.  Sam isn't sure she is up to the job but knows she needs to be there for Tamsin.

Sam is also struggling to make a go of her bakery and to get Tamsin out if her flat she roped Tamsin into helping out, even though Tamsin is no good at baking and proves this with catastrophic consequences,  she is however excellent at marketing and they make a great team.

For me this is a story about coming to terms with your past and looking forward to your future.  Sue does this in a fun way, I felt for the characters when they are down, giggled at some of the antics of both Tamsin and Sam.  I loved it when they went out and were making snow angels in the snow and I would love to have been able to do the same on the cold wet October night that I read this book.

Sue creates two hot men in the form of Gabe and Richard, they literally sizzle of the page especially Gabe, close friends in Heddon and Hall, who stay friends with Tamsin when her friends stop calling.  Mrs J who turns up in the strangest of places, of course Tamsin and Sam.  I wouldn't usually like a character like Tamsin, but under her veneer she is a kind caring person.

This is a fun feel good Christmas read, that's once I had started I found again with a book of Sue's I couldn't put it down.  You've done it again Sue and I for one can't wait to read your next book.

About The Author

Sue Watson was a TV Producer with the BBC who combined motherhood and family life with a busy career. However, one day it dawned on Sue that Cosmo magazine may have been telling porkies about 'having it all,' and her life had become a slightly crazed juggling act.

So after much soul searching (and comfort eating) Sue abandoned her TV career, bought a pink laptop and wrote a novel. 'Fat Girls and Fairy Cakes,' tells the story of Stella Weston, whose life is a constant struggle with a nasty boss at work, the weighing scales and being a mum, wife and daughter.

Originally from Manchester, Sue now lives with her husband and teenage daughter in Worcestershire. When she's not toiling over her latest novel, Sue bakes (and eats) cake and enjoys very large tubs of Caramel Chew Chew ice cream all to herself while watching 'The Biggest Loser USA.'

Sue's second book, 'Younger, Thinner, Blonder' was released in October (2013) and her third book 'Love, Lies and Lemon Cake' is released on June 27th 2014.
