The Howling Heart by April Bostic

What They say:

Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and just when she thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and awakens in the small, remote community of Black River.
Soon, she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv---wolves descended from 13th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack.
Now, she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.
What I say:
This book starts with Paige at home in her New York apartment, where she is dreaming that a wolf is calling to her in her sleep, forcing her to relive a distant memory from her childhood.  She puts this memory aside to focus on her career, until she receives devastating news that her father had passed away and left her a log cabin in Rockies, this is where her memory was from.  This is what led me into this book, I really do like any book with a supernatural element to it and throughly enjoyed this one.

I like the way the author portrayed the characters, the nervousness that Paige felt, around Riley and his family before she new the truth.  The toughness of the Sherieff who is also the alpha male of the pack of wolves. The relationship between Riley and his twin Quinn.

Although the book is romance, the main story being of Paige and Riley falling in love, there is a good back story around the wolves and why Paige's father originally purchased the cabin, with an added twist of a bad apple returning to the fold.

This is a throughly enjoyable read and once I started I found that I wanted to carry on reading until I had finished it.  I would recommend to anyone that like a supernatural romance.

I would give this book 5 out 5 stars.
